Jay-Z, being blessed with a hustler’s soul, has found bigger and better things to be involved with. Yahoo Sports has reported “Jayz looking to divest ownership share of Nets and become NBA agent.” Though he only owns less than 1% of the actual franchise, he still has to abide by the NBA’s rules. “NBA rules mandate that no one individual affiliated with a player representation company can an ownership stake with an NBA team.” According to Yahoo Sports ” Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company has partnered with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to launch a sports representation business that recently secured New York Yankees star Robinson Cano.”
Though nothing is set in stone, Jay-Z is trying to make the most subtle and respectable exit he can. He may have all his ducks in a row by the June NBA draft, but he’s not really rushing it. He has all intentions to let the firms lawyers take care of day-to-day business and logistics. He will just be over looking and giving the okay to all final decisions.
I thought he may have just gotten his wife to “buy” his share of the company. That way he’d still have “ownership”. The fact that he couldn’t sit in meetings and vote on decisions probably took the fun out of it. But all in all, this should be a very interesting future for the athletes he does end up signing. I believe this will start a new caliber of celebrity.
Bounce, Bounce bitch.
