Boxing fans (serious and casual) waited five long years to see Floyd “Money” Mayweather take on Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. It was touted as the fight of the century, and fans paid at least $100 to see the pay-per-view fight. Even more dropped money to bet on the outcome. Casual boxing fans were disturbed by the boring fight. Floyd Mayweather is a defensive technician in the ring and his performance could be appreciated by those more in tune with the technical aspect of the fight, but the majority wanted to see a knockout. Nevertheless, each fighter is expected to get upwards of $100 million and HBO and Showtime pulled in $400 million.

Another aspect of the fight that added to the bland fight could be the shoulder injury that Manny Pacquiao disclosed until after.  It was so bad that he had to get surgery after the fight. The fans aren’t happy. In fact, 32 class action lawsuits have been filed against Pacquiao. They feel cheated by spending money on the fight without knowing all the details. One of the plaintiffs is Flights Beers Bar near LAX airport in California, whose owners spent $2,600 to broadcast the fight (establishments had to pay per square footage).

The folks seeking money from Manny Pacquiao may have to wait a while, though. A judge is deciding whether the cases (from multiple states and Puerto Rico) should be consolidated and if they meet the requirements for class action status. Manny Pacquiao and his camp have not spoken much on the matter, but contend innocence.
