What Is The Guard Ya Beat Youtube Series?
The GYB series is a youtube series I started about two months ago. It is a series of my own remixes on popular industry songs that I am able to put my own twist on. Its a series that allows to me to collaborate with several artists that I look up to for inspiration. So far the feedback has been outstanding.
How did the Guard Ya Beat Series Come About?
Originally it stemmed from me working on my debut mixtape “Guard Ya Beat”. After I had finished the project I was a little stalled because I was forced to delay the release of the actual project. So I figured instead of standing around idle I could just give my fans some new material every couple weeks on a smaller scale. The youtube series is helping me keep my listeners satisfied while waiting on the highly anticipated project.
What Was The Process In The Studio Like?
I recently graduated from the Institute of Audio Research and there I learned everything about recording, mixing and mastering. So I was able to actually write, record, mix and master all of the songs myself. It feels good to know that I can do all of this myself and I am still learning everyday working on ways to improve every part of the process. There is no greater feeling than seeing the songs come together. My mind is racing 100 miles a minute when I get in that zone.
Are The Songs From The Youtube Series Featured On The Project?
No, the youtube series and the mixtape are completely separate. For the youtube series my goal is to remix songs that the masses will enjoy. The objective of the project was strictly lyrical slaughter on classic instrumentals from songs such as “10 Crack Commandments”, “Ambiionz As a Ridah”, “Cleaning Out My Closet” etc.
We’ve Listened To The Youtube Series And It Is Extremely Impressive For An Upcoming Artist Such As Yourself. What’s Your Inspiration?
I just have a strong desire to be great at whatever field I decide to conquer. My family inspires me every single day and seeing them struggle is really what motivates me to do what I do. Although it is risky and I could have easily taken the obvious route of an education and normal job, this is what I feel that I was meant to be. I aspire to be one of the greats in Hip Hop and have my name become a part of the history books.
