Pope Francis seems to always have to deal with sexual deviance involving religious leaders in the Roman Catholic Church. A week ago, the Vatican was rocked by sexual abuse allegations brought against high-ranking church official George Cardinal Pell, who was charged with various historical sexual assault offenses in Australia. Now, reports say that the Vatican police have busted a drug-fueled gay orgy party at the home of the secretary of Francesco Cardinal Coccopalmerio (one of Pope Francis’ key advisers).
The apartment that was busted, ironically, belongs the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, the body charged with taking on sexual abuse in the Church. According to the NY Post:
Cops raided the apartment in late June after neighbors voiced concern about multiple people acting strangely while streaming in and out of the residence, the newspaper reported Wednesday.
Once police were inside the apartment, they said they found multiple men engaged in rampant drug use and homosexual activity.
They then arrested the priest — an aide to one of Pope Francis’ key advisers — after taking him to a clinic to detox from the drugs he’d ingested.
The unnamed secretary is now on a spiritual retreat at an Italian convent. Coccopalmerio had recommended the man for the role of bishop, but that is highly unlikely after these recent events and two alleged overdoses, previously.
