Many people have a few choice ideas of what they want to see in India, only to find out that many of them are in different parts of India, or are maybe even part of the Indian subcontinent. It’s well worth doing some geographical research before you start planning out your ideal vacation to decide what you want to see.
Take a look around the subcontinent
As well as India, you also have the subcontinent of India, which is the geographical location of not only India but the surrounding states. These are home to some of Asia’s most beautiful sites and temples, and so it could be worth your time to investigate. For example, next to Pakistan and India you have the Punjab region, which is the cultural and historical territory of Sikhism. You will not only find the holy pilgrim location of the Golden Temple, but also plenty of Sikh festivals to spend your time at.
It’s also worth checking the weather for each region you’re traveling to. If you don’t cope well with intense, humid heat, then the summertime might not be the best time to visit. You might benefit from traveling during the colder months, as these may still be quite balmy in some regions of India and the surrounding subcontinent.
Vacation packages
If you want to see as much of India as possible on your visit, then take a look at the India vacation packages that enable you to travel to multiple destinations. These are perfect for seeing as much of the country as possible in a short space of time. For example, some of these will get you as far as the Himalayas from Rajasthan and Kathmandu. This also helps to sort out the travel for you, so you don’t have to worry about booking endless separate flights.
Get your jabs and medicines ready
Whenever you’re visiting a different part of the world you should always do a quick check to check if you will need any vaccinations. Getting sick is never fun, especially when it’s a disease that’s not native to your country of residence. You will also need to take some preventative medicines. You should seek out some anti-diarrhoea medication and rehydration sachets to keep with you, as well as a mosquito-guard. It is wise to assume you will need all of these; it doesn’t matter how safe you think you’re being, you may accidentally slip up without realizing it. Stomach sickness is particularly common, and can be painful if you don’t take medication with you.
It’s important to remember that when people say ‘India’ they may be referring to the subcontinent of India, meaning that they are referring to an incredibly diverse and large stretch of land. It’s best to create an Itinerary first to decide where you want to visit, and whether you would benefit from a package to organize some of your travel plans. Make sure you also chat to your GP to book your vaccinations in time before you travel.
