Playing the Waiting Game – What to Do When You Are Bored

Being bored is one of the worst feelings. You might feel as though there is nothing to combat it, and you are doomed to a couple of hours of sitting there drowning in your own thoughts. However, there is a lot you could be doing to fight the onset of boredom. 

#1 Online games 

If you are in the mood for something fun, online games are the place to look. Whether you want an adrenaline rush, a boost of serotonin or you just want to concentrate on something else for a little bit, you might find that doing something different, like visiting an online casino in the US and playing slots and table games, is the perfect way to kill some time. They are easy to pick up and put down, so you shouldn’t be so immersed that you miss your bus or whatever it is you were waiting for.

#2 Do some reading

This doesn’t necessarily mean sitting down and reading a book. You can read some articles that interest you or go on social media and read some interesting blog posts. You can catch up on the news, revisit that web novel, or do some research into something you find interesting. Reading is a great way to pass the time, and the joy of it seems to have been lost a bit in recent years. 

#3 Go out for a walk

Going outside and getting some fresh air can be a key way to make sure that you have something to do. If you are out of the house taking a quick walk down the block, you can have some time to yourself to think about the world around you, get your body moving, and also make some new memories, even if it is just an interesting cloud formation or you get to see a cute creature and get positive hormones moving. 

#4 Do some planning

Doing some planning can be a great way to make sure that you are feeling ready to start the day ahead. It means that you can think about your goals for the day or the week and how you can work towards them. To-do lists are much maligned but are still a great way to stay focused and stop you from sitting around and twiddling your thumbs. 

#5 Do some cleaning

Not everybody’s favorite, but doing some cleaning can be a great way to take up some time. Even if it is just doing the hoovering or dusting, there is surely something to be done. It can be a great way to help you make the most of your downtime and can also make you feel a little better too. It might even get you motivated to do a full house clean and scrub (although that is not compulsory).

#6 Do some odd jobs

There are a lot of odd jobs that you could be doing. You could take a quick walk to the store to get some bread, do some washing up, or organize your bookshelves. This is a great opportunity to get out and do something instead of sitting on the couch and complaining that you are bored. Doing these jobs means you have less to do later, which can be great for you in the long term and might even kick start some inspiration.
