Cee Lo Green has had an interesting career. Most of the world was introduced to him on Goodie Mob’s “Cell Therapy” in 1995. It was surprising for some to see the rapper who once rapped about shooting somebody peeking in his window become the cuddly soul singer he became. Cee Lo enjoyed success with the music group Gnarls Barkley, a Grammy in 2010 for his single, “Forget You” and a spot as a judge on NBC’s “The Voice”. He had reached the point where television executives felt that he deserved his own reality show. “The Good Life” debuted on TBS in June and completed a six episode season. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Green’s show was cancelled, citing poor ratings as the reason for cancellation. However, it is the belief of some that insensitive tweets Green sent out recently about rape played a role in the the nixing of his reality show.

For some background, on Friday, Cee Lo skated jail time by pleading not guilty to drug charges for slipping an ecstasy pill in a woman’s drink at a dinner 2012. Apparently, in defense of himself, Cee Lo took it upon himself to educate Twitter followers about rape. He never denied wrongdoing in sagely tweets  implying that rape is only that when the deed has been successfully executed and “when someone breaks [in] a home there is broken glass[.] where is your plausible proof anyone was raped.” He also found it  beneficial to followers to know that he believes that “if someone is passed out, they’re not with you consciously! WITH implies consent.”

Cee Lo has since backhandedly apologized for the insensitive tweets saying, “Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.” He deleted the tweets, but in the age of the screenshot, that didn’t matter. Fans had already captured his statements.

Green is currently serving three years probation for the drug charges and must perform 360 hours of community service. His “lovable, bubbly image is undoubtedly sullied.
