It looks like Jay Z and Kanye West want us to continue to “Watch The Throne.” Coming off of the Made In America festival, the two have teamed up with legendary comedian Chris Rock for a colossal announcement. Jay and Ye will be co-producing, Top Five, a movie directed by, written by and starring Rock. ?uestlove, drummer for The Roots and band leader for The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon has signed on as executive music producer.
The film is about movie star, Andre Allen (played by Rock) “rexamining his life as a comedian.” Top Five also has a healthy cast of guest stars which includes Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, J.B. Smoove and Saturday Night Live star, Jay Pharoah. Adam Sandler, an SNL alum like Rock and Morgan, is slated to star as himself.
Jay Z is not new to the movie game. In 2011, he formed a film venture with Will and Jada Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment to develop and produce blockbuster movies. Their first venture is a remake of the classic Broadway musical, ‘Annie’ starring Willow Smith. It is not said if Top Five is one of the movies being produced by Overbrook.
Reviews of the movie have been positive thus far. Fans of Jay Z, Kanye West and Chris Rock are undoubtedly excited for the film’s release.
