In the wee hours of Thursday morning, the nation went on alert as it was reported that a shooter was on the campus of Florida State University is Tallahassee. The school’s football team and its outstanding yet prone to trouble quarterback Jameis Winston is usually what finds its way into headlines, but this was far more dire a situation.
It has been reported that two people have been shot and injured. Florida State sent out an emergency alert warning students and parents of a “dangerous situation” on the main campus. From various social media accounts and an Instagram video posted during the shooting indicate that the shooting happened in Strozier Library.
More reports started flooding in about response teams being on the scene. It seems that the next American massacre was averted. One Twitter account claimed, “Everything ‘happening quickly.’ Gunman in custody.”
Police handling the situation have yet to give an official report on what happened at Florida State. As stated before, it appears both victims were shot, but there were no casualties.
