Every man is due his day in court, but if the allegations against Reverend Shaun Harrison prove to be true, he is certainly one of the wilder men of the cloth in our society. The 55-year-old reverend and former associate minister at the Charles Street African Methodist Episcopal Church and dean at English High School in Roxbury was already facing trial after allegedly shooting a teenage student at English High in the head execution style. The teen claimed to be selling marijuana for Harrison who promised him drugs and girls. This accusation led to an investigation of Harrison’s Roxbury home.

Investigators executed a search warrant on Harrison’s house and in basement safe, they found contraband including a little more than an ounce of cocaine and four plastic bags of marijuana. Law enforcement also found guns in the safe including a Ruger .380 and a Smith & Wesson with ammo for each. A spent shell casing from a .38 was also found. It is reported that in a previous search of the home, scales and drug paraphernalia were found along with a shotgun and a rifle.

Defense attorney Michelle Brennan described Reverend Harrison as a “pillar of the community” that has never had any problem with the law and has only tried to help people throughout his life. She also suggested that the contents of the safe don’t necessarily belong to Harrison because the building he lives in is occupied by 20 people.

Regardless, the evidence recovered in the search influenced the judge to tack on an additional $150,000 to Harrison’s bail that was already set at $250,000. Can a reverend really be this much of a live wire?
