The opioid epidemic has been making headlines for the past few years as a major topic. While politicians and community members are concerned with all the dope fiends/pill heads that are suffering and dying out in the world, the police are more concerned with those who capitalize off of addiction by dealing. The latter is what brought personnel from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office to 75-year-old Betty Jean Jordan’s home in Parsons, TN. Jordan has been nicknamed the “Kingpin Granny” by police for her dealing of prescription pain medications in her community. She was under lengthy investigation for slinging pills from her house.

The authorities arrested Jordan after executing a search warrant on her home. Officers found more than 1,000 pills in the house, including morphine, Oxycodone and Xanax, according to WZTV. More than $12,000 in cash and assets was also found.

Jordan faces “three counts of drug manufacturing/delivery/sale/possession of schedule II, two counts of possession of a legend drug with intent, possession of a legend drug and evading arrest.” She was booked into Decatur County Jail on February 9. Since then, she has posted a $50,000 bond and has been released.

More arrests are expecting to come in connection to the Kingpin Granny’s case.
