Are you looking forward to getting away from it all once the world opens back up after the Coronavirus pandemic?

If you are looking to book your next trip away, before you’ve packed your toothbrush, you’ll need to check to make sure that you personally are safe to travel and that your destination is safe to travel to. This becomes even more important if you suffer from any medical complaints, and there are a few things you should consider before you fly.

Can You Fly There and Back OK?

If you have a medical condition, no matter how serious, thinking about how you will get to and from your travel destination and home needs some serious thought. Services like Air Angels medical flights can help arrange non-emergency medical flights to anywhere in the world. Plus, to ensure ultimate safety, you will have a flight nurse who provides medical and specialized care at all times. With an experienced flight RN, you know you will be safe.

What Is Your Health Status?

Your health status is both personal and of national importance. If you know you have a chronic condition that needs particular medication, you’ll need to make sure you can access this while you’re away.

Equally, if you have other issues like allergies to certain medications, it’s worth being able to translate these into the language of the county you’ll be traveling in. It would be helpful also to know the proper medical name for drugs rather than just the brand name you’re used to picking up.

Do You Have A Contact At Your Destination?

If you are someone who has medical complaints that may flare up at any given moment, or you’re at all worried about your medical status, you’ll need to make sure you have a contact at your destination, and you know who to contact should the situation call for it.

In this case, it’s worth having a copy of your relevant notes for the local medical professional(s) to peruse.

What Can You Pack?

Some drugs may only be packed in hold luggage, and some drugs need specific paperwork before you can check them into a flight. Get these sorted before you go, and make sure you have all the documents you need to ensure an easy pass through customs and security.

There’s nothing worse than being pulled over and not having the right paperwork on you to show that you’re a legal carrier. To this extent, you may also need to check that your drugs are legal in your destination country too.

Is Your Destination Currently Safe?

Some countries are not safe to travel to, either right now or long-term. Recent outbreaks of infectious diseases like COVID-19, Ebola, and even Bubonic Plague have been reported across the world, and for this reason, you may not be able to go to these destinations.

Other destinations may require specific vaccines like Yellow Fever before it’s safe for you to travel. Make sure to do plenty of research before settling on a destination to ensure your safety.
