It’s never a good idea to leave your children in the car period, but especially during the hot summer months. Even if you have to leave your car for a second, you should take your children with you. Parents definitely ned to stay aware of where their children are at all times if they care anything about them. Justin Ross Harris of Georgia claims to have forgotten about the baby in his backseat on June 18th when he went to work. The summer sun was too much for the 22-month-old infant son, Cooper to bear. The baby died after seven hours of baking in the SUV. He claims to be reminded of the child’s presence when he returned the vehicle at the end of the work day.
Prosecutors feel Harris’s story is baloney, claiming that, in the days preceding Cooper’s death, Harris researched infant deaths in vehicles on the Internet. He must not have been too happy with life, because his marriage to Leanna Harris was on the rocks. They feel he planned to kill the baby to live the “child-free life.” Nevertheless, a grand jury has indicted Harris on malice murder and felony murder, as well as cruelty to children charges. Harris doesn’t want the public to jump the run regardless of their marital issues. “The rush to judgment by the public and mainstream media has left me with little confidence in our legal system and our society,” she told NBC News.
Harris faces other charges outside of the baby Cooper’s death. Apparently, he was venturing outside of his marriage, evidenced by sexts he was seeing to six other women. In is promiscuity, he allegedly slipped up and sent/attempted to solicit nudes from a teenage girl. On top of the other charges, Harris is facing “a criminal attempt to commit a felony (sexual exploitation of a minor) and two counts of dissemination of harmful material to minors.”
