John Legend Chrissy Teigen

With America in complete turbulence in the form of the Ferguson and “I Can’t Breathe” movements, people have been wondering where the celebrity voices are to speak up for the atrocities at hand. Few celebrities have stepped up to say anything since officer Darren Wilson (of the Ferguson PD) and NYPD officers were let off the hook for killing unarmed Black men (mainly Mike Brown and Eric Garner). One celebrity who has been vocal all throughout has been R&B crooner John Legend. Through social media, he has made clear that he stands in solidarity with those protesting throughout the country. It was recently reported he and model/food blogger wife, Chrissy Teigen have taken it upon themselves to provide food for protesters in New York City.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have taken it upon themselves to enlist food trucks to feed protesters in NYC’s Lincoln Square. The food trucks are from Trader Joe’s according to Teigen’s Twitter account. For example, the food trucks one day were available from 3PM-6PM, giving freed food to protesters who were hungry.

John Legend also is demonstrating through his music. He announced a new track entitled, “Glory.” He says he wrote the song with Chicago rhyme-spitter, Common for the soundtrack for the upcoming film, Selma. The track can be heard below.
