President Barack Obama has been making headlines all day today. The day kicked off with people reacting to his use of the dreaded n-word in a statement about racism. Americans seem more focused on his use of the word than the actual message. He said:

“Racism, we are not cured of it. And it’s not just a matter of it not being polite to say ‘nigger’ in public. That’s not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It’s not just a matter of overt discrimination. Societies don’t, overnight, completely erase everything that happened 200 to 300 years prior.”

These words from President Obama were pertaining to the Charleston Shooting last week where White supremacist, Dylann Roof opened fire during Bible study at the historic Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, NC, killing nine people. These will not the last words that POTUS will give on the incident. He will be delivering the eulogy at the funeral of Rev. Clementa Pinckney, pastor of Emanuel AME that was assassinated during the shooting.

President Obama will be attending Rev. Pinckney’s funeral with Vice President Joe Biden. It will be Friday at 11 AM at TD Arena at the College of Charleston. According to The Post and Courier viewing arrangements are as follows:

Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Rotunda of the Statehouse in Columbia.

Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John AME Church of Ridgeland.

Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Emanuel AME Church, 110 Calhoun St., Charleston.

Arrangements are being handled by Leevy’s Taylor Street Chapel of Columbia.
