George Zimmerman Refuses To Stop Being A Vigilante!

When George Zimmerman was acquitted for the slaying of unarmed, Black  teenager, Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida last summer, it seems he would try to lay as low as possible. That hasn’t been the case. Zimmerman has been popping up sporadically throughout the news. He refuses to go away. Weeks after the ruling, Florida’s  “Stand Your Ground Law” poster child was stopped for speeding in Texas and was carrying a gun. Months later, he was back in the news when eBay bidders went crazy for one of his paintings, wagering bids over $100K. Most recently, he tried to pull a “celebrity” boxing match, in which he wanted to fight a Black celebrity seemingly, but fight promoter Damon Feldman cancelled after backlash from a community still licking their wounds after his acquittal.

Instead of falling back and appreciating the fact that he beat a murder rap, Zimmerman is still making moves. During the trial and preceding events, Zimmerman made it known that he wanted to be a police officer and was acting as an unofficial neighborhood watch person, defending his neighborhood from burglars. Recently, DeLand, Florida police officers spotted Zimmerman camped out in his pickup truck with his dog in the parking lot of a local motorcycle and gun shop. He was there reportedly because he was keeping watch over the store due to a recent robbery in which thousands of dollars in rifles and minibikes were stolen. Manager of Pompano Pat’s (the store Zimmerman was defending), Sam Porter said that Zimmerman “is in no way, shape or form” employed by the shop as a security guard. Porter said in a statement to the Orlando Sentinel, “George has a good heart. We were broken into about two and a half weeks ago and had some guns stolen, so I think he took it upon himself to try to help the owner.” Zimmerman’s “good heart” is probably the reason store owner, Pat Johnson offered Zimmerman a free gun after his acquittal.

Zimmerman’s acquittal was probably the most publicized and polarizing court proceeding since the infamous OJ Simpson trial in the nineties, when the football legend was acquitted of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend, Ron Goldman. Zimmerman seems to be on the same path as Simpson who took on a “teflon” person and didn’t fade away. If Zimmerman isn’t careful with his vigilanteism, he’ll end up doing real time like OJ is now, serving 17 ½ years in prison for robbery and kidnapping.
